Kim Walker from Bethel describes worship as a "love affair with Jesus". Here's her statement.

"Worship is not music, it is not singing, it is not dancing, painting or shouting- these are only expressions of our worship. Worship is God pouring out His love on us, and in turn, us pouring out our love on Him. It is all a relationship. It is about learning to trust Him. Fighting for your connection with God is so much easier when you are in love! One encounter with God's love changes everything."

As I hear that phrase "love affair with Jesus" I remember Mike Frost's comments that we don't actually see this idea in scripture. I am curious to hear your thoughts? Is this an accurate description of what our worship of Jesus is? A love affair? Is love affair an accurate description of what our relationship with Jesus looks like? Some likely love the image. But maybe others don't. Maybe that's what some would rather choose the idea of Journey to describe their "walk" with God. Would the early 1st C. disciples of Jesus have described their relationship with Jesus as a love affair? Or is this a 21st C. idea?

Thoughts? I am wondering if this idea of "love affair" resonates with everyone? If it is biblical, where do we see this reflected in scripture?
