I have been invited to speak at Surrey Alliance Church February 19th by my friend Byron, who is the new Lead Pastor of that church.

As they transition to new leadership and a fresh vision of what Jesus has for them as a church, I feel led to preach out of Mark 8:27-30 where Jesus takes his disciples on a field trip to Caesarea Philippi.

As I re-work an old message for that sunday, I am challenged again in these areas. Not just as a church but personally. It needs to begin with me, and from that place move out to ohers. Inside Out.

Here are some things to reflect upon again.

Point 1: God is always calling us to fresh encounters with Jesus

Point 2: Religion provides us a safe place to become ‘comfortable’ that can keep us from living out of fresh encounters.

Point 3: Breaking out of our comfort zones can mean facing the religious/cultural hindrances that we have become accustomed to.  This can be difficult!

Point 4: Desire is key.  How much do we really want to engage fully with the amazing Person, Jesus—no matter the cost.

To grapple further with these highlights, maybe have another listen to that message entitled "Storm Whipped", and ask yourself what Jesus might be saying to you. And to us as a church family.
