Support & Recovery

Overview

Are you facing a struggle in your life that you feel you can't handle on your own? Whether it's cancer, your mental health, something financial, or counselling, our first encouragement is that you dive into one of our Simple Churches. It is in the context of small and simple that we are cared for the best. This is where we can learn to care for one another the best. With God's help, we are becoming a community of compassion and support that wants to be there for one another.

Care Fund Assistance

Do you have a financial emergency need?  We encourage you to share this need with your Simple Church. That is the first step. If you are not yet part of a Simple Church we encourage you to begin to visit a couple and make a choice on where you will land for the next year. In the mean-time we may be able to offer you limited, one time assistance.  More info coming soon.

Counselling Referral and Assistance

Are you struggling to sort through a personal issue and are not sure where to turn? We may be able to help by directing you to someone on staff who is a a certified, professional counsellor or refer you to someone else who has a Christian perspective.  More info coming soon.

Freedom Session Recovery Ministry

Freedom Session is about finding recovery through Christ.  All of us are in need of God's healing, whether from a hurt, a hang up, or a habit, at some point in our lives.  Freedom Session is about experiencing God's inner healing through the Christian Twelve Steps, which are all found throughout the scriptures. Freedom Session meets as a large group where we all view DVD teaching by Ken Dyck (founder of Freedom Session) and then break into small groups of men or women. To find out when we will be running FS again, please contact the church office at info@intheriver.ca.

Here's what FS will offer:

1. Provide you a safe place to share your experiences, victories, and hopes with others who are going through Christ-centred recovery
2. Provide you with a leader who has gone through similar hurts, hang-ups, or habits.  The leader will facilitate the group as it focuses on a particular principle each week. The leader will also keep FS's "Five Small Group Guidelines," which ensures confidentiality
3. Provide you with the opportunity to find an accountability partner or a sponsor to walk alongside you in your recovery.
