We are a network of Simple Churches, immersed in the grace of God, listening to the Spirit, freed to live out Jesus' love.
People ask me what makes us different or unique from other churches here in Squamish. First and foremost we are a Network of Simple Churches, who believe that all we have, and all we are, is a gift of God's grace. As 1 Corinthians 15:10 says, "We are who we are by God's grace, and His grace to us is not without effect." We cannot give away or model what we have not first experienced ourselves, so we desire to be a people who continue to be immersed in God's grace. Flowing out of this gift of grace is a growing desire to listen to God's Spirit. We desire to be a people who simply trust and obey, knowing that God is truly good. As a people immersed in God's grace, listening to God's Spirit, we become the kind of people God has intended us to be - free. Freed implies that we haven't always been free. But because of God's grace we are now freed to live out Jesus' love to others, no strings attached. We want to be a people who simply look for ways to bless and redeem a broken world. Because Jesus' love is flowing through our veins we can live out that love to others.
Let me be clear. In actuality, this statement is more an identity statement, out of which each Simple Church's unique mission flows. We have done this on purpose. We simply want to live out Jesus' love wherever we are. Yes, we believe God has called us as a church to care for single moms, children as well as youth, but we believe God's love cannot be restricted. The river will flow where it wants to flow. So our encouragement to each of our Simple Churches is to pray and discern together what unique mission God has called them to. What will it look like for each simple church to live out Jesus love? That is yet to be discovered.
